Speed Limit on A9
BAM Nuttall and Perth & Kinross Council have today announced that the 40mph speed limit between the Inveralmond roundabout and Luncarty junction, will remain in place until April 2024.
The reduced limit was put into place in August when the newly aligned A9 opened as part of the Cross Tay Link Road works. This ensured the safety of personnel using the site accesses and working adjacent to the new carriageway.
Derek Walsh, Contracts Manager for BAM UK& Ireland, commented, “Initially, we had hoped that the reduced speed limit could be removed in October but following issues caused by flooding and the freak October weather, delays pushed this back.
“Safety concerns around making the change over the winter months are now dictating an extension of the reduced limit to Spring 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience and can assure drivers that we are committed to addressing the situation as soon as possible.”
Jillian Ferguson, Roads Manager for Perth & Kinross Council commented, “We would like to thank all road users for their continued patience while we progress with these important works. Safety across all areas of the site is of paramount importance to PKC and BAM Nuttall and we will continue to assess the situation over the coming months.”
It is expected that the speed limit will increase to 50mph in April 2024, and will remain in place until the project completion in Spring 2025.
