PKAVS to Receive over £6000 from Cross Tay Link Road Project Fundraising

Over April 2024 the Cross Tay Link Road Project team adopted PKAVS as their chosen charity, raising a total of £6235.77.

PKAVS CHEQUE

Funds were raised via an online auction with prizes donated by sub-contractors and local businesses. PKAVS also attended the project’s Community Open Day, providing an opportunity for the charity to engage directly with families from across the area and raise money through collection cans and a home baking stall.

Derek Walsh, Contracts Manager for BAM UK & Ireland, the main contractor on the CTLR project, commented, “As an organisation PKAVS offers an array of services all aimed at providing support when it is needed most for families and individuals living in the Perth and Kinross area. From The Walled Garden to Young Carers, Shopmobility to The Big Hoose, their work touches people at all ages and stages of life. We are delighted that the CTLR project can contribute to this great work.”

Shaheena Din, CEO for PKAVS commented, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the generous support of Cross Tay Link Project and the local residents who contributed to this fundraiser.”

PKAVS Services

Caring for Carers | Young Carers, Young Adult Carers and Adult Carers

PKAVS supports thousands of unpaid carers in Perth & Kinross. A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support. Services include Young Carers 5 – 17), Young Adult Carers (18 – 25), Adult Carers (Over 25), Short Breaks, Parent Carers and Day Services.

Wisecraft & The Walled Garden

PKAVS Mental Health and Wellbeing Support is based across two service locations; The Walled Garden in Perth and Wisecraft in Blairgowrie.

Both services support people (aged 16+) on their journey of recovery to lead healthy, active, inclusive, and connected lives, through a range of meaningful and skilled-based activities. Using an integrated care approach, they work towards moving people into positive destinations by increasing resilience, confidence, and skills. They use horticulture in a therapeutic manner, as well as offering creative arts, physical and nutritional activity, woodwork, and food preparation engagement options.

Work is carried out in in partnership with NHS Tayside, Perth & Kinross Council, and others to make sure the people we help are well-supported in their community.

Shopmobility

PKAVS Shopmobility is a lifeline for hundreds of older and disabled people, allowing them to retain their independence and continue taking part in local communities.

Shopmobility has over 1,600 registered users and hires mobility scooters and wheelchairs to over 400 users every month. They can also offer hires for weekends or whole weeks and can help people who are temporarily immobile.

The Big Hoose

The Big Hoose project supports children and families in Perth & Kinross living in poverty with access to free everyday household items such as toilet rolls, toiletries, cleaning products, bedding and more.
