Redgorton Path

BAM Nuttall, BINN Group and Amery Plant Hire

The Challenge

The footway between Redgorton and Luncarty was overgrown with topsoil, grass and plant roots making it difficult, and potentially unsafe, for pedestrians and those with mobility impairments, to walk between the two areas without having to walk near the edge of the footway closer to moving traffic.

The Activity

Calum Flett, an engineer on the Cross Tay Link Road project, reached out to a few of the sub-contractors engaged on the project to assist in addressing this problem. BINN Group supplied the skips, Contraflow supplied the traffic management and Amery Plant Hire supplied the excavator needed for the works. The team arrived at the site and were briefed on the methodology of the task to be undertaken, traffic management was then set up allowing the team to scrape back the soil and vegetation, carry out pruning and then brush the path to smooth it over to finish. The waste was loaded into the skip which was then collected and emptied by BINN Group.

The Result

The footway is now clear and wider giving the local people a safer route between Redgorton and Luncarty on foot.

The Cross Tay Link Road is phase two of the Perth Transport Futures project which will deliver a more efficient and better-connected transport system and a cleaner city centre environment.
