Call for local businesses to take advantage of Cross Tay Link Road work

Perth & Kinross businesses are getting the chance to find out more about what supply chain opportunities will be available through the new £118 million Cross Tay Link Road project.

Main contractor BAM Nuttall is organising a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event where their procurement team will outline what opportunities will be available and how to apply.

The event is taking place at Perth Racecourse on Thursday 7 April from 1-3pm. Procurement staff from the company will be on hand to explain what work is likely to be available and how to bid.

The project involves the construction of a new 3-span bridge over the River Tay and six kilometres of new road linking the A9 and the A93 to Blairgowrie and the A94 north of Scone. It also includes the realignment of two kilometres of dual carriageway on the A9 just north of Inveralmond Roundabout.

The new road will significantly reduce traffic congestion and related pollution in Perth city centre. It is the largest infrastructure project Perth and Kinross Council have ever undertaken.

Work will be available to local SMEs across subcontracting and the provision of services and materials.

‘We want to encourage local contractors and suppliers to come along to this event to see what opportunities there may be to get involved with the project as it progresses. We are very keen to get as much local input as possible to maximise economic benefits in the immediate area throughout the construction phase,’ said BAM Nuttall’s Project Director, William Diver.

The type of contracts that will be tendered through the life of the project vary widely everything from site fencing to signs and lighting and concrete supply to piling work and cleaning contractors will be required.
